National Foodbank Day 2025

5th September 2025

Celebrating National Food Bank Day – Thank You for Standing With Us

On National Food Bank Day, we honour the incredible generosity of our community and the tireless efforts of our volunteers, partners, and supporters. Every donation, every hour volunteered, and every act of kindness helps us provide essential support to families facing food insecurity. Today is a reminder that together, we can build a more compassionate and resilient community: one meal at a time.

To mark the occasion, Lagan Valley Island and Union Bridge will be lit green in the evening: a show of solidarity with those facing food insecurity and an appreciation for the impact Lisburn Foodbank makes in our community.

Chair of Corporate Services, Councillor Brian Higginson, said: “I was delighted to visit Lisburn Foodbank and see first-hand the remarkable difference they are making to people’s lives. During my visit, I also had the opportunity to discuss ways we can work together to continue supporting local families.”

Here at Lisburn Foodbank, we’re committed not only to emergency food provision but also to helping people access longer-term support. That’s why we work closely with a wide network of local partners to ensure individuals and families get the help they need:

Together, we’re working to ensure no one faces hardship alone and that every person feels seen, supported, and empowered.
